I found this to be $1 very well spend. You can use blogger and other services to generate revenue in another way outside of google adsense:

Hey man – The main ways that people make money with blogs is either:
A)Through Google Adsense, where you have to generate huge amounts of traffic, but you don’t really have to do anything else to get the clickthroughs
B)By releasing E-books that you charge money for or
C)Some proprietary black hat systems
There are tons of sites where you can find more info.

The easiest answer is with adsense. http://www.blogunexpected.com just recently did a post about making money with a blog and has step by step in setting adsense up.

Hello! First you need to register an account at some of the best blog platforms. http://www.blogger.com is a very good start for blogging.
I also tried other places like http://www.wordpress.com or http://www.marsblogger.com. Both are great places to build blogs and give you great templates too. All of them are free, you don’t need to waste any money.
Then choose a niche and open an account at some affiliate program. Post the links or banner on your site and start driving traffic to it via social bookmarking sites and blog directories.
Again, no money invested here. Remember, if someone if trying to make you waste and/or spend money in any system to make money, don’t buy it. You and everyone should be able to start making money on the internet, without having to invest a dime on it.

It’s catch 22. If you know nothing you aren’t likely to be approved by any affiliate network and then you will be burned up with them forever as they have your details.
I suggest you read up a little about affiliate networks before you go on joining any.
